I smelled gas when I rang the doorbell, and I asked if my customer knew where the smell was coming from. After a few minutes, we determined that it was from the gas lights beside her front doors. That’s when I came up with an idea for a safer and more efficient gas lamp igniter. The Auto-Match is sparkless, and could reduce energy consumption
by eliminating the need to keep a pilot light burning 24 hours a
day. It could also reduce some of the safety concerns associated
with gas fixtures by automatically relighting when the flame is
accidentally extinguished.

I
have been in the HVAC business for more than 19 years. The idea
for Auto-Match came about after completing a service call at a customer’s
home.
