The Balloop is an interactive educational
toy for elementary-aged school children that enables children
to play learn science concepts while playing with helium
balloons. |
The Balloop is an interactive educational toy that
would enable children to play with helium-inflated balloons
without the risk of the balloons floating away. It also could
serve as an educational tool for teaching children about rotation,
buoyancy, spatial orientation and other concepts.
The balloon toy consists of two
helium-inflated elastic or mylar balloons attached to a hoop-shaped
body. To use the Balloop, the hoop is twirled between the
user’s hands, causing the two balloons to turn along
the the edge of the hoop and make alternating passes through
the center of the ring.

BENEFITS
- Easy-to-handle toy provides a way to learn general motion
concepts like rotation, vertical buoyancy, variable, constant,
inside and outside rotation
- Enables children to play with helium balloons without the risk of the balloons
floating away
- Could provide a sense of fun through initiation of its mobile
component - hoop, or electing to observe its static components
- balloons
- May be used as a teaching tool to introduce elementary school-aged
children to geometrical figures and geometrical terms
like 90 degrees, 180 degrees and 360 degrees rotation
- Hoop-component is capable of being rotated around balloons
filled with helium gas, whereby they are buoyant on their
vertical axis
- Ideal for use with elastic- and mylar-type balloons
- Suitable for indoor use, especially by young children
- Lightweight and simple design
- Can be used as promotional item with company logo

FEATURES
- Consists of a hollow disk (or hoop) with two helium-filled
balloons attached to its perimeter; balloons have equal buoyancy
- Disk features two opposing posts that users twirl with their
thumbs and forefingers, causing the disk to rotate; the balloon
toy can be flipped over and maneuvered with the two balloons
attached; hoop could flip 180 degrees while balloons remain
in a position of neutral buoyancy.
- Hoop rotates around a helium-filled balloon on its vertical axis, as the
balloon moves through the center of the ring
- Can be produced in sizes up to 10 feet in diameter with appropriately
sized balloons.
- Producible as individual components, or as an integrated moldable unit
- May be manufactured from different materials, and in various
shapes and colors; additional geometric-shaped hoops are
possible
