This idea began with a dream in May 2001. I had lay awake thinking
about this bag with dirt and seeds. Eventually it had evolved into
a long paper bag laying in a trench; water would dissolve the bottom
of the bag to release the contents.
Since that time, the design of my gardening product has changed.
Today, the product concept is now a boxed "gardening kit."
This was more practical solution to incorporate all of the needed
gardening components (soil, seeds, and fertilizer). It was also
a way to include individuals who like the idea of having a garden,
but did not have a lot of property, did not want to prepare a garden
bed, or had a physical handicap that impeded their gardening ventures.
I attended my first Invention/New Product Exposition (INPEX) In
2002, and came away with a greater sense of what it takes to produce
and market a new product. I received a lot of relevant and valuable
information as well as important contacts that have enabled me to
continue developing my gardening kit.
My new garden product has been further developed. I was issued
my first patent in 2004 and currently have additional patents pending.
My logo and tag line have received a trademark. And I have developed
relationships with other companies to supply the components needed
for the Instant Gardener.
I returned to INPEX in May 2004, and was invited to exhibit at
the Electronic Retailing Association's trade show in September 2004.
I look forward to what that may bring.
